T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 188

Three regrouped in HEC 110 with a wonderfully redone floor. There was the faintest of chemical smells in the room when we first entered, but with the door open and the air-handling going much more forcefully than usual, the room became quite pleasant. We executed a 30 minute, uncalled set after-which there were no questions. Charlie and I stayed on a bit and ran through the staff set three times, each time knocking a bit more of the rust off the set.

There were no relevant questions though right about the time we hit Fair Ladies, I had the thought that I should comment on arm position in relation to the torso. It feels like I can make the statement that the shoulder should never be pulled back behind the "vertical" line of the torso. I think any time it appears that an arm or elbow is behind the vertical line of the torso, it is an illusion created by the turning of the waist.
