T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 242

Four festinated in for a 28 minute called set. After the set, a question regarding the end hand-placement in the "easy" Turn and Kick with Heel (in part 2) lead to further discoveries of hand placement in the beginning of the frame as well. - It was a good question. :-)

It's time.

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 241

Four fiddled while Rome burned. Okay, maybe not. But four fine folk did fall in for a 29 minute uncalled set. Prior to the set, there was a question on Roll-Back and after the set there was a question on Crossed Hands.

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 240

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 238

Five flopped in for a 34 minute called set. By-and-large, people did well. Some need to remember how to follow a called set. - There were no questions.

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 237

Two tore in for a 33 minute uncalled set. Following the set, Charlie and I worked on some interesting push-hands, mostly noodling. It was rewarding. To finish up the time, we practiced staff a couple times. It was nice to get back into it.

September 23, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 236

Four flew in for a 19 minute called set. Charlie requested a slightly less slow set today as he needed to be elsewhere. - We also had one "new" person attend who is currently in 201. :-)

There were no questions after the set.

September 22, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 235

Two tramped in for an 18 minute uncalled set. I felt like I rushed part 3 a bit, but it still felt like a good set.

September 21, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 234

Three threw in for a 29 minute called set. A former student stopped by and since he's been out of it for a while, I felt a called set was in order. There were no questions after the set.

September 20, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 233

Three threw in for a very helpful if somewhat annoying* warm-up followed by a seven minute set. After the set, we paused for about six minutes of standing meditation.

*The warm-up was likely only annoying to me because of my somewhat more strenuous activities over the last two days.

September 19, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 232

Four fell in for a standard warm-up and a 28 minute called set. - No questions.

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 230

Five flopped in from the frost on the grass this morning for a 27 minute uncalled set. Everyone seemed like they were in a hurry today. Everyone was ahead of me at one time or another. *shrug* Oh well. It worked out nicely, anyway.

After the set, there was a question on the left leg movement in the first Ward Off Left.

September 14, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 229

Four flew in from the (almost) frost-like temperatures for a 26 minute uncalled set. I focused on rooting largely and although I was able to feel a good root through much of the set, I felt disjointed.

There was one question on the transition from Lift Hands Step Forward into White Crane Spreads Wings. It appears that I need to review this with the upper-level folks in my class.

September 13, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 228

Five fled the smoke and ash from a Minnesota wildfire and came to an 11 minute uncalled set. After the set, we finished up with about 5 minutes of standing meditation. - It was a really nice way to start the day.

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 227

The mist was thick across the lowland waters as I drove in this morning. The seasons change, the sky darkens, soon it will be Winter.

Five flopped in for a 27 minute called set. Our new student rejoined us. I was surprised, but pleased, and it is obvious she is improving. There were no questions after the set.

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 226

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 225

Six slapped themselves awake enough to come to morning practice including one "new" person. I was pleased. For her benefit, I did a called set today lasting about 25 minutes. She was somewhat overwhelmed, but did well by-and-large, especially for a first-time.

There were no questions after the set.

September 7, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 224

Five flew in for a 29 minute uncalled set this brisk September morning. My legs were actually just a touch sore from, in part, three sets yesterday and my guess would be in part from lack of good rest. The flow was still quite good. There were no questions.

September 6, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 223

Five flocked in for an eleven minute uncalled set followed by about 5 and a half minutes of standing meditation. It was really quite nice. I did promise that next Tuesday, we would get back to our "rocket-sled-on-rails" pace. ;-)

September 4, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 222

Only two stopped in for a 15 minute set. I had to leave early or it would have been longer. - No group practice tomorrow.

September 3, 2011

T'ai Chi at the Allen Center - 2011 Day 221
